---------------  - 2037   -EVOLUTION  -  Could dark matter have been involved?
-
-  Evolution is another word for “where did we come from”?
-
It may go back to the galactic astronomy whereby we circle the center every 250 million years. In completing this circle we wobble up and down through the plane of the disk every 30 million years. For you old guys the disk looks like a phonograph record edge on with a ping pong ball at the center.  Our Solar System is about 10% the way out to the edge, 26,000 lightyears from the center.  The center has a blackhole.
-
The edge is not defined but it merges into dark matter that surrounds the galaxy holding everything together.  Without it stars at the edge would be flying off into space.
-
Dinosaurs lost their lives 60,000,000 years ago.  Why?
-
We claim it was caused by a massive asteroid impact.  But, could there be more to this story.  Evidence is compiling that dark matter may play a role.
-
Research is beginning to show that mass extinctions have occurred on Earth every 30 million years. In addition to the Yucatán crater that killed off the dinosaurs 60 million years ago, there is a recent discover of a 56 mile diameter crater in the Siberia desert dated 36 million years ago.
-
Is there a cycle of destruction every 30 million years?
-
Could the Sun’s orbit around the galaxy passing up and down through the plane be passing through dark matter causing these extinctions?
-
Astronomers are starting to see this type of event occurring is other star systems. Evidence is starting to pile up that dark matter is not only real it is affecting Earth and our very survival.  (See X-ray data from Chandra image of the Perseus galaxy cluster.)
-
Our Solar System passing through the galactic mid plane experiences the gravitational forces of dark matter jostling the Oort Cloud sending a shower of comets towards the inner solar system.  The periodically occurs every 30 million years.
-
It takes more than a million years for a comet  to fall from the distant Oort Cloud into the inner solar system.
-
Still another phenomena may be occurring.  When we pass through the galactic disk the Earth could capture dark matter particles that accumulate in the Earth’s core. Particle annihilation could produce prodigious amounts of heat in the Earth’s interior.
-
The amount of energy produced could create heat that is 500 times the Earth’s normal heat flow. This in turn could produce periodic pulses of geological activity. Rising plumes would penetrate the Earth’s crust.  Basalt eruptions could lead to continental fracturing and seafloor spreading.
-
Continental fracturing results in global tectonics, volcanism, geomagnetic field reversals, and climate change.  These geological changes might be strong enough to cause extinction events. So maybe an asteroid impact was not necessary to cause the dinosaurs demise?
-
Science is trying to correlate extinction events with five major impacts and eleven flood basalt eruptions with thirteen extinctions over a 260 million year history. These events appear to repeating with a period of 26 to 30 million years.
-
Lake Manicouagan in Quebec has a 53 mile diameter impact that occurred 215 million years ago.
-
Comet Hale-Bopp passed through the inner solar system in 1997 visiting us from the Oort Cloud. It had a diameter of 37 miles that missed us.  There is also an uncanny match plotting comet impacts and periodic extinction events.
