----------------------------------  2143  -  Evolution in computational technology.
-
-  Any Universe that fails to evolve conscious life to comprehend its own existence could not have existed in the first place.
-
-   It was not until 10^-43 seconds after the Big Bang birth of the Universe that the situation cooled sufficiently for the force of gravity to take over.  At 10^43 seconds the temperature cooled enough to allow the emergence of matter in the forms of quarks and electrons.
-
-  At 10^-10 seconds the temperature cooled enough for the electromagnetic and weak forces to come into effect.  At 10^-5 seconds protons and neutrons were formed.
-
-  Matter and anti-matter were annihilating each other until, somehow, matter got a slight edge.  Matter exceeded to such a small degree, 1 part in 10 billion.  But, that was enough for the protons to win out over the anti-protons.
-
-  After 60 seconds matter began to form hydrogen, helium and lithium.  The temperature had cooled to 1 billion degrees.
-
-  After 3,000 years of expanding and cooling the temperature reached 3,000 degrees.  At that temperature atom nuclei could capture electrons and become a neutral charge.
-
-  2 billion years later these atoms formed galaxies and stars.  The heat still created chaotic motion.  The particles were still in random motion.
-
-  The law of thermodynamics , called entropy, states that in a closed system, entropy, or disorder, or randomness, always increases.  This is the same reason that time only increases, only in one direction.  Time and entropy are always increasing in the Universe.
-
-  After those 2 billion years the chaos settled enough to allow certain patterns of energy and matter to form.    Energy and matter perpetuated themselves and somehow survived the chaos.
-
-  Perpetuation continued reaching the evolutionary process recorded in our DNA.  We call it life.   Life is the DNA software on the CD that is in the form of a long, six-foot, ribbon instead of a disk.
-
-  Homo-sapiens' DNA is not very  different in than any of the other advanced primates.  It is 98.6% the same as the lowland gorilla's.  But, that 1.4% difference is enough for me to type this Review for you.
-
-  The only way to find the limits of the possible to is to go a little ways past the impossible.
-
-  The further backward you look,  the further forward you can see.
-
-  The speed and density of computation has been doubling every three years.  If your car had done the same thing over the past 50 years,  your car would now cost one hundredth of a cent and travel faster than the speed of light.
-
-  Things are more like they are now than they were before.
-
-  As order increases over chaos, the time period between salient events decreases.  Order is information that fits a purpose.
-
-   Evolution has shown a trend towards greater order resulting in greater complexity.  Evolution is not as closed system.  It takes place amidst great chaos and depends on the disorder from which it draws its options for diversity.
-
-  Technology is a continuation of evolution by other means.  Technology evolution speeds up because it builds on its own increasing order.  This effect is multiplicative, not additive.  The technological resources for evolution , order, and chaos are therefore unbounded.
-
-  The building of DNA and all organic stuff is conducted atom by atom with chains of amino acids.  The active part of the DNA code is only 23 megabytes of data.  This is less than the software for Microsoft Word processing that I am using.
-
-  We appear to start off in the womb with similarities to a fish embryo.  We progress to an amphibian, then to a mammal.   Both appear to be like a nine month reenactment of evolution.
-
-  Computers are still a million times simpler than the human brain.  But, it will only take a few decades for them to catch up.  Machine complexity are about comparable to insects today.  They  are robotically catching up.
-
-  When will computers exceed human intelligence.  They will have the memory capacity and computing speed in the next couple years.   There will be a new form of intelligence on the Earth.  This could ultimately exceed human intelligence.  It could well be the development of greater impact than any other event that has shaped human history.
-
-  Intelligence is the ability to use optimally limited resources , including time,  to achieve desired goals.  It is not just being better at solving problems as it is being better at deciding what problems are worth solving.
-
-   Common sense is not s simple thing.  It is an immense society of hard-earned practical ideas of life learned lessons, rules, and exceptions, dispositions and tendencies, checks and balances.  We express common sense and knowledge through language like what I am typing and you are reading.
-
-  Quantum physics has the dreams that these powerful computers are made of.  The power of quantum computing depends on the number of qu-bits that are linked together.  To do this computing we need to find a large molecule that is specifically designed to hold large amounts of information. Evolution has designed just such a molecule, DNA.
-
-  We can map the brain's synapse.  We can download our mind into our personal computers.  We can reverse engineer the neural implants that provide memory, seeing, hearing, or reasoning.
-
-  We will soon have computers with the capacity of the human brain.
-
--  Nano-technology is rebuilding the world atom by atom.  Computational technology is inevitably and rabidly overtaking the species that invented it.  Keep inventing.  It is the only way out of this mess.
